This method is quite simple, we will first make a series of diagonal knots as in the video below. Then in the center of the necklace we insert metal beads and a pretty natural bead in the center. To start, cut 5 threads about 1.5 meters each. Plan a good length because you won’t be able to make joins during assembly at the risk of having to start all over! Start the knots roughly from the center; it will be easier to adjust the length of the necklace. In this technique, the outer thread will be the weft thread, it passes over the others. Then each thread will make 2 knots on the weft thread. When you want to place beads, you must string them before making the knots. Make a first series of diagonal knots, then insert a metal bead on the weft thread (this is the one going diagonally, the one on which we make knots with the other threads) then make knots with the 3 threads. Before making knots with the last thread, string the small metal beads. Here we put 1 cube bead 2mm, 2 beads 3mm, a pendant and again, 2 beads 3mm and 1 cube bead 2mm. Then lock the row of beads by making 2 knots. Go back in the opposite diagonal by making knots with the threads. Then repeat the operation with the beads but this time on the 3rd thread you will string a 6mm bead. Continue symmetrically... Then make as many weavings as you want and to finish the necklace, braid the remaining threads by making a 3-strand braid (join the outer threads in pairs and leave the central thread alone). To give you another view of the technique, you can watch the bracelet video. And there you go! Beautiful work! |
