This method is quite simple: first we'll make a series of diagonal knots, as shown in the video below. Then in the centre of the necklace we insert metal beads and a pretty natural pearl in the centre. To begin, cut 5 threads, each about 1.5 metres long. Make sure you have a good length, as you won't be able to make any connections during assembly, or you'll have to start all over again! Start the knots roughly in the centre, which will make it easier to adjust the length of the collar. In this technique, the outer thread will be the weft thread, passing over the others. Each threads then makes 2 knots on the weft thread. If you wish to place beads, you will need to string them before making the knots. Make a first series of diagonal knots, then insert a metal bead on the weft thread (the one that runs diagonally, the one on which you make the knots with the other threads) then make the knots with the 3 threads. Before tying the knots with the last thread, string the small metal beads. Here we've put on 1 2mm cube bead, 2 3mm beads, a pendant and again, 2 3mm beads and 1 2mm cube bead. Then secure the row of beads by making the 2 knots. Start again on the opposite diagonal, tying the knots with the threads. Then repeat the operation with the beads, but this time thread a 6mm bead onto the 3rd threads. Continue in symmetry... Then weave as many strands as you like and to finish the necklace, braid the remaining threads into a 3-strand braid (join the outer threads in pairs and leave the central strand alone). To give you another idea of the technique, take a look at the video of the bracelet. And voilà! A great achievement! |
