Frequently asked questions

All about our chains

How do I choose my chain length?

The easiest way: measure a necklace or bracelet you like wearing, then add the length of the clasp. Our chains are sold in cut lengths (the length is shown on each product page), by the metre, or on a spool for stainless steel. For all the reference points, choker, princess or sautoir, read our guide to choosing your necklace length.

How do I attach a clasp to a chain?

Open a jump ring with two flat-nose pliers, twisting one side towards you and the other away from you. Thread it through the last link of the chain and the loop of the clasp, then close it with the same movement in reverse. At the other end, a second jump ring or an extender chain will act as the attachment point.

24K fine-gold plated or stainless steel: which should you choose?

24K fine-gold plated brass has a warm, deep gold tone. Our 24K chains are made in Europe, nickel- and lead-free, REACH compliant: this is our premium range. Stainless steel doesn’t rust or tarnish and is suitable for sensitive skin: ideal for affordable everyday jewellery. The two complement each other very well.

What is an extender chain for?

Attached to one end of the necklace or bracelet, it lets you hook the clasp at different points to adjust the length. Find our extender chains in gold, silver or stainless steel.

How do I cut a chain?

Cut through a link with side cutters, leaving a complete link at each end to attach a jump ring. For some soldered chains (this is stated on their product page), if you order several 20 cm cut lengths, we can cut to order so that you receive the chain in one continuous piece.

How do I look after my chains?

To keep them shining, avoid prolonged contact with water, perfume and cosmetics, and store your chains away from moisture, separately to prevent tangles. A soft cloth is all you need to wipe them.
