A gold-plated brass thread, a few fluorite beads and a setting pendant: that's all it takes to make a fine ring with a bold character. This simple assembly relies on the wrapped loop technique — an essential base that opens the door to dozens of combinations depending on the stones, colors and the mood of the moment.

What you'll need

• 0.4 mm flexible brass wire — 24K gold-plated brass (1 cut piece)
• Faceted natural stones 4 mm — Fluorite or beads of your choice (2mm, 3mm, 4mm)
• Heart setting pendant in zirconium oxide — Premium 24K gold-plated brass or 6mm setting pendant, 8mm or pendants in natural stones

The steps

Form the loop and place the pendant

Using round-nose pliers, form a loop about 3 cm from the end of the thread. Slip the setting pendant into the loop before closing it.

Secure the loop by wrapping

Wrap the short end of the thread around the base of the loop to lock it in place. Cut off the excess with the cutting pliers. Flatten the cut end with the flat-nose pliers for a clean finish.

Position the pendant and thread the beads

Using flat-nose pliers, form a right angle between the loop and the main thread. The pendant should face you, in the correct direction. Then thread the fluorite beads, adjusting the number according to your finger size.

Shape the ring body and finish

Curve the beaded thread around your finger or a mandrel to give the ring its shape. Wrap the remaining thread at the base of the loop, cut off the excess, and flatten the cut end. Adjust the pendant position if needed so it hangs neatly in the center.

You can vary the look endlessly: replace the fluorite with amazonite for a softer style, or with garnet for a more intense touch. And by playing with the bead diameter (3 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm), you completely change the look of the ring.
