Mermaid Drops

Seaside earrings in mother-of-pearl & amazonite.

Create your own “seaside inspiration” earrings, elegant and luminous, in this new easy-to-make tutorial.

Materials : beige mother-of-pearl beads arranged in a size gradient (larger towards the bottom), interspersed with starfish pendants, and mounted on a thread shaped like a drop.
Colored finish : an amazonite cabochon is placed on the base for a subtle touch of fresh and summery color.

This tutorial guides you step by step: from positioning the beads to the method of assembling the brass wire.

For this project you will need:
earring settings for 8x10mm cabochons Gold plated with 24K fine gold flexible brass wire 0.7mm Gold plated with 24K fine gold 4mm rings Gold plated with 24K fine gold starfish pendants 2 cabochons 8x10mm mother-of-pearl beads, 12 x 6mm, 8 x 8mm and 2 x 10mm

The assembly:

To start, mount the starfish pendants on 4mm rings.

Cut a brass wire about 25cm long. At one end of the wire, form a wrapped loop by placing the earring loop setting before closing the loop. Cut the excess wire flush.

String the beads onto the wire. 3 beads 6mm, 1 bead 8mm, a pendant, 1 bead 8mm, a pendant then a bead 10mm. Continue symmetrically...

Shape the drop with the stringing of beads then wrap the brass wire around the edge of the wrapped loop. Cut the excess at the back of the assembly. Flatten the cut with flat pliers.
