You will need :

6mm heishi beads
6mm round metal beads
6mm round natural stone beads
curved tube bead
crushable beads
silk or nylon thread
toggle clasp
jewellery clips

Here are some explanations:

This piece of jewellery is very easy to make, all you have to do is thread the different beads in the order you want onto the wire. You can play with the different shades of beads and the natural and metal beads to give rhythm to the stringing.

Tip: Start threading from the centre of the necklace, so you can easily reproduce the symmetry as you go along. You'll be able to see how it looks straight away without having to take it all apart if you don't like a particular combination of beads. It's also easier because you don't have to count all the beads again!

Here we've placed the tube bead in the centre, then on each side we've placed a metal washer.

Then string the heishi beads (in this case we've placed them in groups of 20 beads to keep the rhythm regular).

Intersperse the heishi beads with round metal beads and 6mm round natural stone beads.

Once you've reached the desired length, secure the ends of the thread with pliers to prevent it from slipping out! Here we have made a 38cm thread. The necklace will measure 40cm with the clasp fitted.

Thread 2 squeeze beads onto one end of the thread, then the clasp ring, then back through the squeeze beads. Pull on the thread to bring the clasp to the edge of the beads. Then gently flatten the beads to be crushed.

Tip: Don't squeeze the pearl too firmly as this could break the nylon thread. A little pressure is enough. Test the hold to make sure it's secure.

To prevent the end of the thread from scratching you, tuck in the remaining thread over about 3cm of beads.

For the other side, do the same operation, but this time with the other part of the clasp. But before flattening the beads to be crushed, position the necklace in its final shape, keeping some flexibility between the beads. Your necklace must remain fluid, otherwise it will create tension that would be unpleasant and unsightly.

And voilà! A great achievement!
