Step 1 — Position the threads

Arrange your 3 threads like this:

• Left thread = working thread

• one center thread = carrying thread

• Right thread = working thread

Cut 3 threads about 1 meter long. Allow extra length as no joining is possible.

String the natural stones on the 2 outer threads. On each thread, place 2 citrine beads, 2 hessonite garnet beads, 2 pink tourmaline beads, and 3 red onyx beads. Repeat symmetrically with 2 pink tourmaline beads, 2 hessonite garnet beads and 2 citrine beads. Tie a knot at the ends of the threads to secure the beads.

On the center thread, the carrying thread, string the golden beads. One rondelle bead, one bicone bead, 2 rondelle beads, one bicone bead... In total, you will need to place 16 bicone beads and 32 rondelle beads.

Step 2 — Left half knot

1. Position your 3 threads on the board and secure them in a slot, leaving about 15cm of margin before starting the knots.

2. Pass the left thread over the central thread

3. Pass the right thread over the left thread

4. Slide the right thread under the central thread

5. Pull it out into the loop on the left

6. Pull gently → you get a half-knot

Step 3 — Right half-knot (mirror)

1. Pass the right thread over the central thread

2. Pass the left thread over the right thread

3. Slide the left thread under the central thread

4. Pull it out into the loop on the right

5. Tighten → the square knot is formed

Now place a rondelle bead and a bicone (on the central thread) at the edge of the knots you just made.

Repeat 2 knots as before. This will lock the beads in place.

Slide a citrine bead onto the outer threads and 2 rondelles on the central thread. Make 2 square knots.

Slide a bicone bead and make 2 knots.

Slide a citrine bead onto the outer threads and 2 rondelles on the central thread. Make 2 knots... Continue like this until the beads are used up.

Result

👉 A complete square knot = left half-knot + right half-knot
It’s the alternation of the two that creates an even braid.

To finish, make 2 square knots after the last bead as at the start. Cut the 2 outer threads leaving 2mm then burn them with a lighter to melt them. Press with your finger to stick them to the edge.

Make a sliding knot. Place the bracelet in its shape by crossing the 2 threads. Cut a new thread and make a series of 6 square knots around the 2 threads. Cut off the excess.

Tips for a perfect result

✨ Always tighten with the same tension
✨ Add the beads gradually and pull the central thread tight
✨ Use a Linhasita waxed thread for a clean finish
✨ Finish with a sliding knot to adjust the bracelet (the same knot as the square knot but with a new thread!)
