To begin with, separate your string of natural beads in half to easily obtain the beads corresponding to the two sides of the necklace. This will make stringing easier. Take the silk thread and thread a squeeze pearl and your clasp before passing through the squeeze pearl again. Pull the thread to bring the clasp back to the end of the thread, keeping a piece of about 5cm. Flatten the pearl to be crushed, then tie two knots at the edge of the bead with the threads to secure the threading. Start stringing the beads... Here we've alternated series of 6 beads and 9 natural beads (to give the whole thing some rhythm) with a cube bead between each series. For the last series we replaced the cube bead with a small cross loop. In the centre of the necklace we placed a cube pearl, a faceted pearl, 15 4mm washers, a spinning top and again 15 washers, a faceted pearl and a cube pearl. Then use symmetry to assemble the other part of the necklace. At the end of the threading, place the bead to be crushed, an extension chain (about 3cm) and then thread through the bead to be crushed again. Before tightening the bead, place the curved necklace in its final shape, keeping it flexible. Tie 2 knots at the edge of the bead to be crushed, then cut the threads flush. |
