Pendant bails in brass plated with 24K fine gold

Step by step

How to attach a pendant

A pendant is attached to its chain or cord with a bail or a jump ring. A few tips for a secure assembly and a pendant that faces forward nicely.

  • The bailIt links the pendant to the chain and lets it slide freely. Our bails come in 24K fine gold-plated, 925 silver-plated and stainless steel.
  • The jump ringOpen it with two flat-nose pliers by twisting one end towards you and the other away from you, without pulling it apart. Slip it through the pendant, then close it with the same movement. If the pendant doesn’t face forward, add a second jump ring to turn it around.
  • The pendant’s holeCompare it with the thickness of your jump ring. Hole too narrow? Go through a small 3 or 4 mm jump ring first.
  • Chain or cordFor a heavy pendant, choose a chain with soldered links. For a more boho look, choose a leather cord or a waxed cord, made in Europe, or a silk ribbon.

Frequently asked questions

All about our pendants

How do I attach a pendant to a chain?

The easiest way: a jump ring. Open it with two flat-nose pliers by twisting the ends, without pulling it apart, slip it through the pendant and then the chain, and close it. To let the pendant slide along the chain, use a bail, in 24K fine gold-plated, 925 silver-plated or stainless steel.

24K fine gold-plated, gold-plated 925 silver or stainless steel: which should I choose?

Brass plated with 24K fine gold offers a warm, deep gold tone; the gilding is done in Europe, nickel-, lead- and cadmium-free, REACH compliant. Solid 925 silver plated with 24K fine gold, made in Europe, is the most precious choice. Stainless steel doesn’t rust or tarnish and is suitable for sensitive skin: ideal for affordable everyday jewellery.

How do I make an initial necklace?

Choose your letter from our letter pendants: in solid 925 silver, 925 silver plated with 24K fine gold, gold-tone stainless steel, or mother-of-pearl letter beads. Attach it to a fine chain with a jump ring, then add a clasp. Several initials can follow one another on the same chain.

Do natural stone pendants have special properties?

In lithotherapy, stones are said to have many properties. We choose them above all for their beauty and quality: Sébastien, certified in gemmology, checks our stones, a large share of which are selected and cut in our partner workshops in Jaipur. As each stone is natural, colours and veining vary from piece to piece. Discover them on our natural stones page.

What’s the difference between a pendant and a connector?

A pendant has a single loop: it hangs. A connector has two: it sits between two lengths of chain or cord, to centre a motif on a necklace or bracelet.

How do I care for my pendants?

To keep them shining, avoid prolonged contact with water, perfume and cosmetics, and store your pendants separately, away from moisture. A soft cloth is all you need to wipe them. For stones and mother-of-pearl, also avoid knocks and chemicals.
