A strand of approximately 38 cm of faceted round fluorite beads, in a selection dominated by purples: pale lavender, amethyst, deep plum, punctuated here and there by a seafoam-green or blue-gray bead. The facets play with the stone's transparency and give it a bright, ever-changing sparkle.

A fine, versatile size for delicate necklaces, stacked bracelets, and cluster earrings; fluorite purple stands out equally well on silver-tone and gold-tone finishes. With a hole of approximately 0.7 mm, a 0.3 to 0.5 mm nylon thread or a fine cable is suitable. For a more contrasting look, fluorite is also available in a 4 mm color gradient.
A bit of gemology: fluorite is calcium fluoride (CaF₂) that crystallizes in the cubic system, often in perfect cubes or octahedrons. Its name comes from the Latin fluere, “to flow”: it was added to ores to lower their melting point, a use still current in metallurgy. It also gave its name to fluorescence, because many crystals glow under ultraviolet light. Its colors, from purple to green and blue, come from defects in the crystal lattice and traces of elements such as rare earths; thus one thread can bring together several shades. Hardness 4 on the Mohs scale, density of approximately 3.2. Main deposits: China, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and in France in the Massif Central.
Good to know: with a hardness of 4, fluorite is softer than quartz and scratches more easily. Store this thread separately from your harder stones, avoid impacts and household cleaners, and simply wipe it with a soft cloth. Prolonged exposure to full sun may slightly fade some purple shades.
In lithotherapy: violet fluorite is associated with the third-eye chakra. It is believed to have virtues of mental clarity, concentration, and calming, hence its nickname of “genius stone” in lithotherapy books.
The thread you will receive: this limited edition has only five threads, from the same batch and shown together in the photo. The thread you will receive is one of them, with the same palette of purples; only the order and proportion of the lighter beads vary from one thread to another.
100% natural product: the size, shape, shade, and number of beads may vary slightly from one thread to another. Dimensions and quantities are given for guidance only.
