Their discreet size is ideal for delicate necklaces, stacked bracelets, rosary chains, and earrings finishes; they pair just as well with silver tones as with gold tones. Fine 0.5 mm hole: plan on a suitable thread or needle, for example 0.3 mm nylon thread or a fine cable.

A bit of gemology: labradorite is a calcium-sodium plagioclase feldspar, (Ca,Na)(Al,Si)₄O₈, crystallizing in the triclinic system. Hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, density of around 2.7. Its reflections are not a color of the material but an optical phenomenon, labradorescence: light reflects on fine internal lamellae of alternating compositions and produces, by interference, blue, green, or golden flashes depending on the viewing angle. On beads of this size, the effect appears in touches, bead after bead. The stone owes its name to Labrador, Canada, where it was described around 1770; today it is mined mainly in Madagascar, Finland, India, and Canada.

Good to know: labradorite has two marked cleavage planes. It wears well, but it does not like sharp impacts: avoid dropping it onto a hard surface.

In lithotherapy: labradorite is associated with the third eye and crown chakras. It is credited with the role of a shield stone, protective against external energies, and with virtues of intuition and serenity.
