Drilled at one of the points, these beads are used like drops: threaded or suspended, they hang with the point upward, the base of the triangle downward. Their varied heights lend themselves to mismatched earrings, fringe necklaces, or a central pendant surrounded by small beads. With a hole of approximately 0.6 mm, plan for fine nylon thread, a fine cable, or a fine head pin.
A little gemology: labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar, a sodium and calcium aluminosilicate that crystallizes in the triclinic system. Hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, density of approximately 2.7. Its reflections, called labradorescence, are not due to a pigment: they come from very fine lamellae in the crystal structure, which make light interfere like a soap bubble. It owes its name to Labrador, in Canada, where missionaries described it around 1770. It is also found in Madagascar, in Finland, where its most colorful variety is called spectrolite, and in India.
Good to know: labradorite has cleavage planes: avoid impacts and sudden changes in temperature. A soft cloth is enough to bring back its reflections.
In lithotherapy: labradorite is associated with the third eye chakra and the throat chakra. It is credited with a protective role, hence its nickname of "stone of the therapists," and with intuitive virtues.
The beads you will receive: the photos and the video show the threads from which our lots are made. Hand-cut, these triangle beads are not calibrated: each lot of 4 brings together shapes and heights that are slightly different, with the characteristic nuances of labradorite. It is precisely this irregularity that gives your creations their unique character.
