Woven Mother-of-Pearl Creoles with Golden Thread

Gold hoop earrings in 24K fine gold adorned with mother-of-pearl beads woven with gold thread. Two versions to choose from: pure line 100% mother-of-pearl or the 'gem spiral' variant, where fine natural stones are nestled between each bead for a luminous relief.
A simple and quick step-by-step guide, ideal for beginners while achieving a professional finish, along with the list of materials and our tips.

For this project you will need:

Gold hoop earrings in 24K fine gold
0.4mm thread Gold in 24K fine gold
mother-of-pearl beads
natural stone beads 2mm

The tools to use:

pliers for jewelry creation

The setup:

For the mother-of-pearl only version, cut a brass thread of about 40cm.

Fix one end of the thread in the hole of the hoop. Pass the thread through the hole twice, then cut the excess flush.

Thread a bead, position it on the edge of the hoop, then make 2 turns with the thread to secure it. Make the turns of thread right at the edge of the bead.

Repeat the operation until you have dressed the entire hoop. Normally, you should place about 16 mother-of-pearl beads.

To finish, wrap the thread around 2 turns at the edge of the last bead, then pass the thread between the bead and the hoop. Wrap the thread tightly around the thread coming out of the bead. Cut the excess flush.

For the mother-of-pearl and Gemstone spiral version, cut a brass thread of about 80cm.

Pass the thread through the hole of the hoop, fold the thread in half to visualize the location of the hoop. Make another turn of thread to secure it well.

One thread will be used for the same mother-of-pearl setup as before. The other thread will be used for the setup of the small natural beads.

Take the previous setup to secure all the mother-of-pearl beads.

Then thread the natural beads onto the second thread. To know how many beads to thread, multiply your number of mother-of-pearl beads by 8, as we will place 8 beads per curve and thus per bead. For example, for a setup of 16 mother-of-pearl beads, we threaded 128 beads of 2mm.

To prevent your beads from slipping off the thread, make a small knot or loop at the end.

Now, place 8 natural beads on one side of the first mother-of-pearl, then make a turn of thread between the mother-of-pearl beads. Continue with 8 beads for the second mother-of-pearl, forming a spiral. (once to the right, once to the left...)

Continue to the end to dress all the mother-of-pearl beads.

To finish, secure the thread by wrapping it around the thread coming out of the last bead. Cut it flush and slightly flatten it with flat pliers.

Repeat all the steps to make the second earring.

Your jewelry is finished!
