How to easily make wool pom-poms?
To start, choose the colors for your Christmas decoration. Here we wanted warm and colorful shades that go beyond the traditional red and green.
We used balls of pink, turquoise, and white wool.
Play with the thicknesses of the wool, it will give contrast to your pom-poms!
To get started
Collect cardboard, boxes, packaging, boards…
Make sure to use cardboard that is sturdy enough but not too thick to be easily cut.
Then draw 2 circles the size of the desired pom-pom. For this, try to find a template, a storage jar, a bowl… Or draw the circle using a compass.
Inside this circle, draw a new centered and smaller circle. This circle will be about 2cm in diameter. Here we used an adhesive roll as a template.
Draw 2 lines from the inner circle to the outer circle as shown in the picture on the side.

The mounting technique
Position your 2 templates against each other, aligning the notches.
Then start wrapping the wool around the template, making sure to place it well on the circle as you go.
Wrap the wool until you have enough volume to create a nice, well-filled ball.
The most delicate step!
Now cut a piece of wool about 20cm.
Hold your assembly firmly to prevent the wool from escaping, then slide the tip of the scissors between the 2 cardboard templates.
Start cutting the wool... Always hold your creation because this is when the wool can escape!
Slide the piece of wool between the templates all around and then make a tight double knot.
Remove the templates to free the pom pom.

At this stage, your pom pom Christmas ball is a bit disorganized. We will now give you a tip to even out the pom pom and give it a nice look!
Take your 2 templates and place them in a sandwich on the pom pom. Squeeze tightly between your hands and then cut all the pieces of wool that stick out. This will help to even out the pom pom.
What to do with wool pom poms?
Now that your pom pom is finished, all you have to do is showcase it!
You can use it as a Christmas ball to place in the tree. For that, you can add a wooden bead on top to give it a cozy touch.
These pom poms can also be attached to a cord to form a garland to place in the tree or on a fireplace.
You can also make a warm Christmas wreath!
