Nothing is lost...everything is transformed, and this quote is also true for many items of jewelry, including chains. Maëlle gives you a few tips on how to use your small chain pieces to complete your jewelry collection!
Ever since I started making jewelry I've meticulously kept all the bits of chain, links, rosary chains.....and we're going to show you how to use them.
Rings:
Simply measure the size of your finger and transfer the measurement to the pieces of chain you have. Open a ring and use it to connect the chain pieces. That's all there is to it....
For an even more stunning effect, make an accumulation of these little rings by varying the chains you have.
Mixandmatch:
This means recreating a bracelet or necklace chain by combining different pieces of chain and mixing textures. This will enhance a chain, a stone color...
Natural stone rosary chains:
As the first link is often unusable, I also treasure every little stone! And yes, even a small pearl can be preserved and reused.
So, if one of my stones breaks in a bracelet or necklace, I can change the broken stone by creating a new beaded link.
To do this, I use 0.4 mm flexible brass wire, create a loop with mini pliers or the smaller end of round pliers, connect my link to my chain and then make a few turns around the wire to tighten and close my loop. With flat-nose pliers, I lightly crush my wire to make it as unobtrusive as possible.
Bangs :
As a creole earring or necklace...by mixing pearls and chains, bangs will bring a bohemian touch to your creations.
For a graphic touch, bangs can be graded in length, making them very useful for reusing different bits of chain.
You can also mix chains with Miyuki Pearls strung on wires.
Beautiful creations and good recycling!
