Brass wire is an ideal material for jewelry-making, as it's easy to work with and offers many creative possibilities. Brass wire jewelry can be made using a variety of techniques, including weaving, bending, hammering, shaping and, of course, writing.

What does it take to create a brass wire jewel?

To create a piece of jewelry in brass wire, you first need to obtain the right thickness of brass wire. On our site, you can find the right thickness and hardness of wire. At the bottom of the article you can see the correct wire used for our creations.

You'll also need round-nose pliers, wire cutters and flat-nose pliers for bending and shaping wire.

If necessary, you can use a felt-tip pen, a sheet of paper and a ruler.

You can then follow various models or tutorials to create the jewel you want.

Where to start?

For the brass wire writing technique, it's important to start by drawing the word or phrase you want to write, then adapting it to the size of the wire and the shape of the jewel. When you first try, it's hard to get the letter size right, and the first words are often too big. So be careful to follow your design and make the words small enough to be worn subtly as jewelry! Start with simple words.

Then simply bend the wire to the contours of the design, using the appropriate pliers and tools. You can also create brass wire jewelry with words, first names, inspirational phrases, symbols and more.

Once the brass wire jewelry has been created, you can personalize it by adding pearls, natural stones, pendants, etc. Our brass wires are gilded with 24K fine gold to give them a more luxurious finish, but you'll need to be careful not to damage them with the pliers! A word of advice: hold the wire gently with the pliers, without crushing the wire or manipulating it with your fingers.

This brass wire jewelry technique is easy to learn and offers a wide variety of creative possibilities. It is particularly suitable for personalized and unique jewelry, such as bracelets with inspirational words or pendants with first names.

Step-by-step explanations:

Steps to follow :

  1. Choose the word you'd like to write. In our example, we've chosen "Mamy" to honor Grandma's Day.

  2. Measure the approximate length of brass wire needed to write the word. Choose a 0.7mm flexible brass wire, preferably gilded with 24K fine gold.

  3. Using the wire cutter, cut the brass wire to the required length.

  4. Using the round-nose pliers, bend the brass wire along your pattern to form the letters of the word. You can use a ruler to make sure the letters are straight.

  5. A tip: place the round-tipped pliers where you want to create the curve, then shape the wire with your fingers around the pliers. This will avoid marking and damaging the wire.

  6. If necessary, use the flat-nose pliers to flatten the letters into place.

  7. Adjust letters if necessary to ensure correct alignment.

  8. Then, using the round-tipped pliers, bend the ends of the brass wire to form loops that will serve to attach your chains.

  9. Place the chains and clasp.

Your brass wire bracelet is finished! You can personalize it with beads, charms or other decorative elements if you like.

Let your imagination run wild!

This technique can also be used to create other jewels such as brooches, rings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets... The possibilities are endless!
