Mermaid Drops

Mother-of-pearl & amazonite seaside earrings.

This tutorial guides you step by step: from positioning the pearls, to the method of mounting the brass wire.

You'll need :
earring holders for 8x10mm cabochons Gilded with 24K fine gold flexible brass wire in 0.7mm Gilded with 24K fine gold 4mm rings Gilded with 24K fine gold starfish pendants 2 cabochons 8x10mm mother-of-pearl beads, 12 x 6mm, 8 x 8mm and 2 x 10mm

Assembly:

To begin, mount the starfish pendants on 4mm rings.

Cut a brass wire approximately 25cm long. At one end of the wire, form a coiled loop by placing the earring holder before closing the loop. Trim off excess wire.

Thread the beads onto the wire. 3 pearls 6mm, 1 pearl 8mm, a pendant, 1 pearl 8mm, a pendant then a pearl 10mm. Continue in symmetry...

Form the drop with the bead stringing, then wind the brass wire around the edge of the wound loop. Cut off the excess at the back of the assembly. Flatten the cut with flat-nose pliers.
