Behind the scenes

Open the door to our workshop... and see what goes on behind the scenes... How the pieces that make up your jewelry are created... From creation to online... From home to delivery...

Creation

First there's the desire to create a piece of jewelry, a shape, a style... then comes the most difficult step, finding the right piece or pieces.

Some parts are made from a mold - these are the volume parts - and for these we use Zamak. This light alloy has the advantage of a low melting point at low temperatures. Other, flatter parts are made from sheets of brass, cut to shape using templates, then pressed to add texture.

Traceability and values: Our parts are manufactured in European workshops. It's essential for us to offer you quality parts that comply with European regulations.

Welding

This step is carried out on brass parts, after the basic part has been produced.

It is indispensable for applying a cabochon support to a part, soldering a stud to create an earring, placing a ring on its reverse side to facilitate mounting...

It's a painstaking process carried out manually by our craftsmen.

Gilding

This is the last and most important step, as it will give your creation its grace and brilliance. The piece is dipped in a gold or silver bath for a variable length of time, depending on the desired thickness.

At Perles Corner we choose to apply 24K gold, for its purity and brilliance comparable to solid gold. 24K gold is pure, unlike 14K, 16K and 18K gold, which are made from a mixture of alloys, and are frequently used to reduce cost. The color of the plating is obviously different.

Always keen to offer you quality jewelry pieces at the right price, we have developed a special bath with our long-standing gilding partner.

Honesty: Rather than making you believe that your jewelry will last a lifetime, we prefer to invite you to take care of your creations. Gilded jewelry is not solid gold or silver, like our grandmothers' jewelry. It's a coating applied on top. So it's natural that if this piece is abused by repeated use of water, cosmetics... the coating will wear off over time. You may not notice it after a few months, but it will happen even with gold plating. This does not call into question the quality of the product, but rather the use to which it is put. Let's respect our creations by making them last longer ;-)
