The threads for jewelry
|
Dive into a subtle creative project: this bohemian multi-strand necklace combines a delicate gold chain suspended in a cluster of small garnets, with a second strand of alternating amazonite and gold beads on a thread of irregular mother-of-pearl beads. The result is a colourful, luminous and elegant choker made from Gemstone beads. This step-by-step tutorial shows you how to connect, thread and position the beads, plus finishing tips. Ideal if you're looking for a DIY jewel that combines refinement, comfort and a harmony of natural shades.

This jewel is not complicated to make. Just follow the steps below to make this elegant and delicate piece to perfection. To begin, mount the 7 Amazonite beads on the ball-head nails. Form normal-sized curls. Neither too small nor too large. Use the round-tipped pliers to obtain round, even curls. Make sure they are tightly closed.
Now cut a nugget chain about 38cm long and fold it in 2 so that you can see the centre of the chain, which should fall on a ring (which links the nuggets). Connect 5 garnet beads with a 4mm ring to this ring. On each side, in symmetry, mount 2 clusters of 5 garnet beads on 4mm rings, mounted on the chain's link rings.
Let's move on to stringing beads... Cut a nylon thread about 50cm long. Thread a moon pearl, a gold pearl and an Amazonite pearl (nail). String a gold bead and then an Amazonite bead. Continue in this way to place the 7 Amazonite beads interspersed with gold beads. Finish with a moon pearl. This gives you the central threading assembly. On each side, place an oval mother-of-pearl bead and then string the small irregular mother-of-pearl beads in symmetry. Continue threading until you reach a length of around 40cm.
Assembling and fitting the clasp... Now take a squeeze bead and thread it onto the nylon wire. Pass the thread through a ring on the multi-strand connector, paying attention to the direction. The chain will be at the top and the bead threading at the bottom. Pass the thread back through the bead to be crushed. Using flat-nose pliers, bring the pearl to be crushed to the edge of the multi-strand ring, then flatten it. Tuck the excess nylon thread into 3 beads, then cut the excess off flush. This will prevent the thread from scratching the neck! For the other side, thread a pearl to be crushed, pass through the ring symmetrically (in the right direction) then pass through the pearl to be crushed and 3 mother-of-pearl beads. Position the threading flat and in a curved shape (as when it will be worn) to keep the beads supple. Pull on the thread to gently bring the beads to the edge of the ring. Be careful that the stringing remains flexible and not rigid!Flatten the bead to be crushed, then cut off the excess thread. Now connect the chain to the multi-row connectors using 3mm rings.
Finally, connect the clasp on one side and 4cm of extension chain with a 3mm ring on the other. Your jewellery is finished! Beautiful creation! |
