In this tutorial I'll give you the measurements for a 40cm choker, plus a 5cm adjustment with the extension chain. Feel free to adjust the measurements to your size. You can even make this necklace entirely from beads for a maxi mother-of-pearl effect!

To begin, cut a nylon thread about 30cm long (adapt the length to your stringing, here we have strung 20cm beads ).

Cut 2 pieces of chain about 10cm long. This is the size for a choker, but you can adjust the length to suit you.

Start threading...

Thread a pearl to be crushed onto the nylon thread, pass the thread through the last link in the chain and then back through the pearl to be crushed. Bring it back to the link and flatten it.

Now thread a round pearl in gold-plated brass, a mother-of-pearl pearl, a round pearl... Here we have strung 7 mother-of-pearl beads alternating with gold beads. Finish with a gold bead.

Then to finalise the threading, place a bead to be crushed, pass through the link of the second chain and then pass through the bead again. Pull the thread back towards the chain link. Before flattening the bead to be crushed, make sure that the bead threading remains supple and mobile. Don't put too much tension between the beads! Crush the pearl with flat-nose pliers.

To finish, cut a piece of extension about 5cm long and connect it to the end of the chain with a 3mm ring. On the other side, connect the clasp with a 3mm ring.

You can mount a small mother-of-pearl bead on a nail to embellish the extension chain.
