Assembly: |

|
To start with, cut a wire about 1 metre long. I prefer to take a little longer on this type of assembly, as a connection in the middle can be complex and annoying! Thread the thread through the eye of the needle. Now we're going to start weaving the beads around the edge of the creole. To do this we're going to use the Brickstitch double weaving technique, as we'll be placing 2 beads by 2 beads. Thread 2 beads then pass the needle through the creole before passing through the beads again. Naturally, the beads will come to rest on the edge of the creole and the thread will loop around the creole. Keep the thread about 15cm long to start with. Continue with this technique until you have assembled 4 series of beads duos, then thread a needle on the starting thread and zigzag through the beads on the 4 beads duos. Cut the thread flush. Continue using this method until you have placed a total of 19 pairs of beads around the edge. ![]() Once your beads are assembled, iron them in a zigzag pattern in the previous beads to lock them in place, then iron beads again in the last 2 beads. Now we can start assembling the fringes with the drop beads. String 9 drop beads and then iron in the 2 beads around the edge. Then move on to the next bead, thread the needle through the 2 beads next to it, thread 9 drop beads and then thread through the 2 beads again. Continue in this way until you have filled all the beads around the edges with the fringes. For the best results, don't overtighten the fringes - they should remain flexible. ![]() Once all the fringes have been made, iron in a zigzag pattern around the edges of about 4 beads, then tie a discreet knot. Cut the thread flush with the beads. Do the same for the other earring. Your jewellery is finished! Beautiful creation! Find all the supplies you need to make this jewel at the bottom of the page. |
