Fall in love with the finesse of these necklaces made with our traditional heishi beads! We've redesigned our famous surfer necklaces, which are a must-have for summer, with bright colours, a chain tocomplete the look and pendants. A real piece of summer jewellery to wear during the day, at the beach, in the evening... and to personalise with the colours of your choice! This tutorial is very easy to do, so give it a try!

Take your silk thread and thread a squeeze pearl. Pass through the ring of the clasp and then through the squeeze pearl again. Tie a double knot at the edge of the clasp and place the squeeze pearl on the knot. Flatten it with flat-nose pliers. Start stringing the heishi beads by alternating colours. Feel free to play with the rhythm of the colours, opt for regular repetition or let your imagination run wild by creating gradients... To add contrast, play with colour and rhythm! Once you've reached the centre of the necklace, about 20cm away, place the pendant, then use symmetry to finish the other part of the necklace. Next, thread a squeeze bead and an extension chain about 3cm long. Thread through the bead to be crushed. Tie a well-positioned double knot at the edge of the beads, then place the pearl to be crushed on the knot before flattening it.
Make sure the necklace remains flexible before flattening the bead. To liven up your creation, I recommend using at least 2 colours of Heishi beads. For the necklace with the chain, the assembly will be almost the same except that you will cut 2 pieces of 10cm chain. Thread the Heishi beads onto the ends of the chains. Use 4mm rings to attach the clasp. |
