To start with, cut a thread about 50cm long so that you're comfortable. Once you've mastered the technique, you'll be able to adjust the size just right. Tie a simple knot in the centre of the cord, then thread the bead through. Make a second knot on the other side of the bead to secure it. To tie the knot close to the edge of the pearl, use a needle threaded through the knot to help you slide the knot as close as possible to the pearl. Tighten then remove the needle. Le noeud : Place the cords in the shape of the bracelet, with the 2 ends crossing. If you wish, you can insert a pearl on the 2 cords to help the crossing. Put the bracelet on to determine the size and approximate position of the knots. Follow the diagram above for guidance. Pass the left-hand cord under the right-hand cord, then bring the left-hand cord back to form a loop. Hold it in place with your right hand. Then wrap the cord around the 2 cords for 2/3 turns. You can tighten the turns, no need to keep them wide. To finish, pass the cord underneath to enter the starting loop. Gently tighten the knot. Then cut the cord to within 2mm of the knot and burn the end, taking care not to touch the knot. The end will melt, press with your finger to stick the end to the knot. This will prevent the knot from unravelling. If you wish, you can also place a small dot of glue on the knot. When you go to tighten the knot it will move, the difficulty is to make it in the right place. To do this, plan to start the knot in front of the predefined area, because as you tighten the knot it will move further away. Practise on a test cord before making your bracelet.

For the second knot, proceed in the same way with the other cord. And there you have it! Beautiful creation! |
